Our Services
SWIMMING POOL AND/OR SPA REGISTRATION, INSPECTION AND COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION
We provide a complete end-to-end service for property owners to ensure your pool is registered, compliant and safe.
We do this on your behalf by performing the following services:
1. Register your swimming pool and/or spa and confirm the build date with your local Council:
From 1 December 2019 you as the property owner, including landlords, are required to register your swimming pool and/or spa with your local Council. The Council will maintain a register of swimming pools and spas within the municipality through owner registrations, existing Council records and aerial photography to ensure the register database is up-to-date. Once your swimming pool and/or spas is registered, the Council will advise the build date of your swimming pool and /or spa. Councils will charge a registration fee and possibly a search fee to determine the construction date of your swimming pool and/or spa. These Council costs are included in the fee Victorian Pool Safety Services charge the property owner.
2. Arrange your swimming pool and /or spa barrier assessment by a registered domestic builder (if applicable) or pool barrier safety trades-person:
Prior to having your swimming pool and /or spa inspected by a registered building surveyor or inspector we will coordinate for your swimming pool and/or spa to be assessed by a domestic registered builder (if applicable) or pool barrier safety trades-person to determine what building works(if any) are required to meet the swimming pool and/or spa safety barrier regulations.
We do this to minimise the cost of non compliance including building surveyor or inspector revisits, additional council fees and council fines.
3. Have your safety barriers inspected for compliance by a registered building surveyor or inspector:
Property owners will also be required to have their swimming pool and/or spa barriers inspected and certified by a registered building surveyor or a registered building inspector. Victorian Pool Safety Services will perform the activity to coordinate the inspection on behalf of the property owner by the independent registered building surveyor or inspector. For clarity the registered building surveyor or inspector is independent of Victorian Pool Safety Services and we will pay those costs on behalf of the property owner from the Fee you pay us. This certification will state that the barrier of the swimming pool and/or spa complies with the applicable building regulations.
4. Provide a copy of the Certificate of Compliance to Council
Once a Certificate of Compliance is issued by the Registered building surveyor or inspector Victorian Pool Safety Services will coordinate for the Certificate of Compliance to be lodged with your local council. Councils will charge a lodgement fee for the Certificate of Compliance.
5. Non Compliance determined by Inspection and actions to make your swimming pool and/or spa safe
Should your swimming pool and/or spa barrier be assessed as non compliant by the registered building surveyor or inspector Victorian Pool Safety Services will assist the property owner if required to find suitable and qualified building trade resources to rectify the non compliance at the property owners cost and arrange for the building surveyor or inspector to revisit the property for a further Compliance Inspection. This revisit will be at an additional cost to be advised. Any additional council fees and council fines will also be to the property owners cost.
